Did you ever look at a calendar and say to yourself “Wait a minute? How is the year already half over???” Well, that’s me today. I’ve been meaning to write a blog for quite some time now about all the awesome (and not so awesome) things that have been going on since my last blog post. Allow me to sum up these past few months for you. I had my debut performance at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville this past June and it has to be the highlight of my career thus far. I still get butterflies thinking about what an incredible experience it was for me to sing “Home of the Blues” at the Johnny Cash Forever Stamp Concert. I also experienced my first CMA Fest/Fanfair last month at that was soooo much fun! Can’t wait to do that again next year! I also performed at the first Taste of Country Festival in upstate New York. I love the fact that there are so many country music fans in New York and it just goes to show how country music really is “country wide”!!
I’ve been busy writing and collaborating with songwriters on new material for my upcoming EP set to be released in the Fall. There are some really cool songs going on this EP and I can’t wait for you all to hear it! My new single “I Won’t Ask” is being released to country radio on July 22nd. I have to tell you, this song was so much fun to write with Tony Bruno and Colin Smith and even MORE fun to perform live! And just wait until you see the music video for this song! All I can say is “OMG!!” Traci Goudie and Patrick Hubick have really outdone themselves on the treatment for this video. Think of the movie “Sin City” and that will give you a glimpse to what the “I Won’t Ask” video is going to look like! Simply amazing!!
Some really cool things happened on the home front this year too; We finally took down our Christmas tree in May (haha), our son did an amazing job at the school talent show and our daughter graduated from high school. Some not so cool things happened too; our beloved boxer dog Alfredo past away, we had yet ANOTHER flood in our basement and I’ve been dealing with a serious back injury. However, I’m not letting it stop me from heading out on my radio tour this month!
I’m sure I left out so many other incredible moments but I didn’t want to go on and on and risk boring you all! I do want to say that I feel so blessed and appreciate every moment of this journey I am on. Thank you for giving me my first Top 40 song with “Somebody’s Baby” and for all your continued support and well wishes! You guys are the BEST and I LOVE you all!!
I’m 30,000 feet in the air and thought what a great time to write about what’s been happening these past few months. But before I go into detail, I first want to thank EVERYONE for the incredible support you have given me. The journey I am on is one that I do not take for granted and the support from fans across the globe means the world to me so I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Living the life I have been living recently almost seems like a dream. I have traveled across the United States and have visited over 40 states so far! I have met some incredible people and have seen some beautiful cities. Every time I visit a different state, I say to myself “Wow, this would be a great place to live”, but then its off to another city and I find myself saying the same thing about that city. I feel so blessed to be doing what I love and I hope you are enjoying the music with me. I am happy to announce I recently became a member of the Academy of Country Music and can’t wait to start voting on the ACM Awards! I also met some of my all time favorite country artists on my travels these few months. I finally met Charlie Daniels, who was so incredibly sweet to me. I hung out with Tracy Lawrence in Nashville and helped him with his Turkey Fry for the Homeless. Bucky Covington, The Roys and a bunch of the Tennessee Titan football players were there too. We really had a great time – even though I never fried a turkey before, I can tell you that I am a PRO now! Haha!
I also released my latest single “Somebody’s Baby” as well as the music video to this song. The first time I heard this song, I felt a real connection to the lyrics because it immediately made me think of my two children and how I will ALWAYS consider them to be “my baby”. I’m glad we were able to put this song on my upcoming “Somebody’s Baby” EP which will be released on December 4th. I added the music video to the EP as well, which I thought would be a bit different from the other CDs I’ve released in the past. This week, the song has jumped (6) spots to #54 on the Billboard charts! I am so excited and keeping my fingers crossed that the song will break into the Top 40! (Insert happy dance right here).
Anyway, I’m really looking forward to heading back home for Thanksgiving. I have so much to be thankful for and want to say again, THANK YOU to everyone who is following along with me on this journey and a great big THANK YOU to my amazing husband and children. Without their support and faith in me, this journey would not happen. I couldn’t do it without them and certainly couldn’t do it without you, the fans. I hope you and your families had a blessed and wonderful Thanksgiving and I will touch base again with you all soon.
These past few months have been insanely busy but so much fun! We finished up the music video for my latest single “Somebody’s Baby” in Nashville. We flew in on a Saturday morning, headed to the location site straight from the airport, filmed ALL DAY and then headed back to New York Sunday morning! It was CRAZY but we made it happen and now the video will be out within the next few days. I still can’t believe how blessed I am to be doing all of this. There have been so many incredible moments for me, like when I performed a few weeks ago at Vet’s Rock with Ronnie Dunn, Lee Brice, and Lauren Alaina to name a few, and the long island country music fans were so amazing! I also had the opportunity to sing the National and Canadian Anthems at the Little Brown Jug in Delaware, Ohio. As a horse owner, this was one of the biggest events in harness racing and I was so excited to be there and sing in front of 30,000 people. Besides singing and filming, I’ve been doing some serious writing with some amazing songwriters and I can’t wait to let ya’ll hear these songs! In the next few weeks I’ll be heading back to Nashville and will be performing at a few venues during the week of the CMA Awards. It should be a BLAST! Thank you again to everyone who is following my journey and for all your kind words and support! Lots of love, Lisa XOXOXO
This August, I was able to check off another “bucket list” item by visiting the country of Italy with my husband and kids. It was a vacation of a lifetime! We started out in Rome and did the usual tourist thing (visited the Coliseum, the Trevi Fountain, toured the Vatican, etc.) and at every place we visited, I was amazed and in awe at the beauty of this city and what was accomplished thousands of years ago. It is mind blowing to see structures still standing until this day and to imagine how in the world they were able to achieve the detail and artistry of their work so long ago. If you haven’t had a chance to visit this incredible place I would put this beautiful city on your “bucket list” too! I won’t even get into how amazing the food was!
After we toured Rome for a few days, we headed down to the Amalfi Coast where we stayed at a breathtaking hotel called Il San Pietro in Positano. This hotel was inside a mountain … not around it, but actually built INSIDE the mountain. From the street you could only see a small building where the elevator shaft was located to take you down into the hotel. The views were simply amazing and swimming in the Mediterranean Sea was a highlight of our stay. After a few restful days in Positano, we boarded a plane to Sicily. Both my husband and I have family from Sicily so this portion of our trip was extra special for us and the kids. We stayed at the Verdura resort in a town called Sciacca. This place was huge and offered so many things for everyone to do during our stay. A funny policy they have at the resort is their “Bike Stealing” policy. They basically have over 185 different types of bicycles around the resort and if you need a bike, you steal any bike you find laying around! If someone needs a bike, they steal yours and so on, and so on. Good thing there were enough bikes to go around whenever you needed one. Another special moment for us during this trip is it landed on mine and Frank’s 20th wedding anniversary. Being the mushy romantics that we are, we decided to renew our wedding vows at sunset. It was such a wonderful moment to share with Alexa and Frankie there, watching and celebrating with us. Needless to say, we took over a thousand pictures during this trip but it was one I know we all will remember forever.
And now that we are already into September, there’s lots to do between the kids starting school again and me getting ready to promote my newest single “Somebody’s Baby”. I can’t wait to get back on stage!
We just finished filming the music video to “Somebody’s Baby” in Nashville this weekend and I had a BLAST! Don’t get me wrong, every video I have filmed throughout this journey has been great fun, but this time around, the song and the video hit close to home for me. I was really happy to work with Traci Goudie and her incredible production team once again, and her vision for the treatment of “Somebody’s Baby” was really spot on. Not only did she incorporate personal photos of my family but she also found a way to integrate my wedding video. Filming this video was a great way to finish up my hectic radio tour before this single get’s added to radio on September 17, 2012. This week I’m on my way to a much needed family vacation before the radio tour starts again in September.
I can’t believe that my new video for the single “Me Time” has made it to the #1 spot on CMT.COM. This is the second video back to back for me to make it to #1. It’s such an honor for me and such an incredible feeling to be on the same list as Toby Keith, Miley Cyrus, Luke Bryan and Alan Jackson. Thank you again CMT for giving me this opportunity.
In between making cookies with my kids and Christmas shopping, I have been thinking about what an extraordinary year this has been for me. People ask me what I hope to see happening in the future and I tell them it is this moment, today, this journey that I am on – that I am so truly blessed and thankful to be a part of. I am doing what I love to do and having the time of my life. The support I receive from my family, friends and fans means so much to me and I really am grateful to you all. I don’t know what will happen in 2012 but I am ready for anything and excited to see where the road will take me next.
I wish you all a happy and healthy holiday season and a bright, prosperous New Year! 🙂
I was able to receive a time frame of when my Christmas Song video would air on CMT and so today, my daughter and I watched the show Mistletoe Jams on CMT and right after the Joey & Rory video was played, my video came on! I sat there with my cell phone and started taking pictures of the TV screen as the video played just to remember this moment. I had already set up my DVR to record it (LOL) but I was too excited and was snapping away!! It was an amazing feeling and one I will never forget. In addition to CMT, I am happy to report that GAC and TCN are also playing my video to the Christmas Song during their holiday programming.
I can’t believe that I had the #1 video on CMT.COM. I knew that many country radio stations were playing the Christmas Song already but I was still surprised to see that for a brief moment, my video was #1 on Today’s Top Videos! It was such an honor for me and such an incredible feeling to be on the same list as Toby Keith and Luke Bryan … words alone cannot describe how excited I was to see my name up there and I am so grateful to CMT for giving me this opportunity.
Today my keyboard player Jon Lloyd and I made a visit to Captain Jack over at Renegade Radio in Nashville. Jon and I performed the Christmas Song “live” on the air and then talked for a bit with Captain Jack. It is never a dull moment when I visit with Captain Jack! He is such an awesome person and really has one of the greatest voices I have ever heard on radio. He has done an amazing job with Renegade Radio Nashville and I wish him all the success in the world!
